2020 PAUSAW Schedule

PAUSAW/USAW COVID-19 UPDATE

All PAUSAW Family I want to keep you updated with the current information regarding COVID-19. Included in this email is information from both USA Wrestling and PAUSAW with their current position as well as some information regarding National Teams and Start Up.

USA Current Position:
Due to the nature of what it would entail to host a national or regional USA Wrestling competition, with the first priority being the health and safety of all participants involved, USA Wrestling has extended the postponement of its national and regional events through July 1.

In addition to the 10 national and regional events that USA Wrestling previously postponed through May 10, there are 10 additional events which have now been postponed:

• Western Regional Championships, Farmington, UT, May 14-16
• Northern Plains Regional Championships, Rochester, MN, May 15-17
• Central Regional Championships, Fort Wayne, IN, May 15-17
• Southeast Regional Championships, Wilmington, NC, May 22-24
• UWW U23 & Junior World Team Trials, Geneva, OH, May 29-31
• Southern Plains Regional Championships, Dodge City, KS, June 5-7
• 16U National Duals, Loves Park, IL, June 9-13
• 14U National Duals, Franklin, IN, June 10-14
• Junior National Duals, Tulsa, OK, June 16-20
• USA Wrestling Kids Nationals, Wisconsin Dells, WI, June 25-27

Working with its COVID-19 Advisory Committee and relying on current advice from health and government agencies, USA Wrestling is currently formulating the specific safety measures that must be put in place in order for the resumption of club practice and local or state competitions. Any such activity will only be possible when held under the guidelines set by local and state health authorities and in compliance with the safety measures being developed for the sport.

As this situation regarding this pandemic remains fluid and ever-evolving, USA Wrestling will continue to monitor its policies regarding National and Regional events, sanctioned events and club practices, and additional changes to these policies are possible.

PAUSAW Current Position:
Due to so many unknowns at the current time and the future in our State. We have cancelled all our qualifiers including our State Championship. We will proceed to work with USA Wrestling and prepare to support any National Duals event and Fargo. We are also planning to host a few Freestyle/Greco event sometime late summer or early fall if we can. We do have a Tour of America Folkstyle event planned for early November and we hope we are able to host that and we will keep you informed as we move forward.

PAUSAW National Team Position:
We have formed a committee of some of our board members that will help get teams ready if there are any National Duals or Fargo but we will not send any team unless we have ample practice time which could 30 to 45 days once we get started.
Our selection criteria will be any returning wrestlers to those teams, so if you were on the 14U teams last will automatically be on the teams that would apply to all levels and both Boys and Girls and then we would fill the open slots with wrestlers that submitted information for consideration. For Fargo we would take all returning 16U (Cadet) and Juniors that were on the team last year plus any 14U (Schoolboy Dual Team/Kids Nationals) wrestlers moving up to 16U. We will again fill the open spots with wrestlers that submit information for consideration.
Our position for Kids Nationals if they hold the event is that any wrestler in the Kids Division that wants to go will be allowed to attend the event. We will not be planning a bus trip at this time so they would need to get there on the own.
We will continue to update you for all the remaining National Events as soon as we get new information.

PAUSAW Start Up Plan:
At this point we are just waiting for the go ahead to get started which we believe will be a phased in approach by county and shortly we will be distributing a very detailed procedure on how to restart your practices and the requirements to make sure it is safe for all our wrestlers and coaches that we expect all Clubs to follow. We are working with a few other states on get the information prepared and we will send out in the next few weeks.
So this is the latest update and I know everyone wants to get on the mat but with wrestling being a direct contact sport it may require more time for us and you know we need to be very careful and follow what we are being told by our government and health departments. So far we haven't lost any of our PAUSAW Family and I want to keep it that way!!. So we all need to be cautions and stay safe!

If anyone has any questions you can send an email to info@pausaw.com or joe.stab@gmail.

Yours in Wrestling,
Joe Stabilito
